What is Biomass Energy?

Biomass
Biomass is a renewable energy source that uses organic matter such as plant waste, food scraps, and agricultural byproducts to produce energy. It can be converted into heat, electricity, or fuel through processes like combustion or fermentation. It is considered sustainable because the materials can regenerate naturally and it helps reduce landfill waste. Although it emits carbon dioxide when used, this impact is partially offset because plants absorb CO₂ during their growth, making it a cleaner alternative to fossil fuels.

Our Machine

Machine
Our project focuses on creating biodegradable bags to replace traditional plastic bags. We use corn starch, vegetable glycerin, lecithin, corn fiber and beeswax to create a durable bioplastic that can break down naturally over time. This alternative helps reduce plastic pollution and reliance on nonrenewable resources. By using plant-based materials, the bags are more environmentally friendly while still maintaining the strength and flexibility needed for everyday use.
LED System
The production process is controlled by an Arduino-based system that carefully manages key conditions during manufacturing. It regulates the temperature between 70–90°C and ensures the mixture reaches the ideal consistency for forming the bioplastic. This level of control improves the quality and reliability of the final product, helping the biodegradable bags maintain strength and flexibility while being produced efficiently.

Advantages and Impact

Energy
Our project represents a step toward a more sustainable future by offering an eco-friendly alternative to traditional plastic bags. By using biodegradable materials and a controlled production process, we reduce environmental impact while maintaining practical functionality. Through innovation and responsible design, this solution helps decrease pollution and supports the shift toward renewable, waste-reducing technologies.
